Ethanol Terminal NWB Goes Live with UAB-Online Digital Workflow

Written by UAB-Online | 11 December 2025

We are pleased to announce that NWB (Noord Europees Wijnopslag Bedrijf) has officially gone live with UAB-Online. After kicking off the implementation only last week, NWB requested to accelerate the rollout, and today the platform is already up and running at their terminal. This rapid transition reflects NWB’s ambition to further optimise their operations and support their customers with even greater efficiency and transparency.

Why NWB Is Digitizing

NWB handles a wide range of ethanol products, from food-grade and pharmaceutical ethanol to industrial alcohols, denatured products, and spirits. With high throughput, multiple loading modalities, and a strong first-come, first-served operational model, seamless coordination is essential.

By digitising these workflows, NWB aims to:

  • Reduce administrative workload for both operators and customers
  • Enhance accuracy and compliance through guided digital processes
  • Improve data availability before, during and after operations
  • Accelerate vessel, barge, truck, and railcar turnaround times
  • Increase transparency for all parties involved in the logistics chain

This step strengthens NWB’s position as a modern, customer-focused ethanol hub within the Port of Amsterdam.

About NWB

Established in 1964, NWB is one of Amsterdam’s longest-standing liquid bulk terminals, known for its flexibility, reliability, and strong customer service.

The terminal offers:

  • Approx. 60,000 m³ of storage across 99 tanks
  • Private 10.10 m draft jetty (LOA 185 m) for vessels and barges
  • 7-railcar loading positions
  • 6 truck loading bays with weighbridge
  • Specialised ethanol warehousing, including ADR classes 6.1, 8 and 3
  • IBC handling, filling and denaturing services

With excellent multimodal connections, NWB serves as a key gateway for ethanol flows into and out of Europe.

Rapid Go-Live

The implementation progressed faster than initially planned. Thanks to the close cooperation between both teams, NWB moved from kickoff to go-live in just a few days. Depending on NWB’s operational readiness, we may also activate the Seagoing module and the Railcar module at very short notice. While not fully confirmed, both could potentially go live as early as next week, further expanding the digital coordination across all modalities handled at the terminal.

Conclusion: A Strong Step Forward in Digital Excellence

With UAB-Online now live, NWB is taking a significant step toward a fully digital, transparent, and streamlined operation, benefiting their customers, partners, and internal teams alike.

We look forward to continuing this collaboration and supporting NWB as they expand their digital capabilities and strengthen their role as a leading ethanol hub in Europe.
