Since August 2024, LyondellBasell Maasvlakte integrated UAB-Online’s software to streamline its liquid bulk handling process for seagoing vessels. LyondellBasell already uses the inland shipping module for barges at this site and recently implemented the inland shipping module at the Wesseling site. Via the UAB-Online platform documents in the pre-arrival phase are digitised. For example the Notice of Readiness (NoR), ISGOTT 6 including the SSSCL checklist and terminal specific documents. Further digitising their liquid bulk processes will make their handling operations more efficient, safer and more sustainable.
LyondellBasell's Maasvlakte site is home to a unique factory that operates on a global scale, producing propylene oxide and styrene monomer using specialised technology. The factory, operational since 2003, is co-owned by Covestro and LyondellBasell. The site, located in Rotterdam's Maasvlakte area, spans 60 hectares and includes production facilities, storage areas, a control room with a laboratory, offices, maintenance workshops, and transportation facilities. It is connected by a 7-kilometer pipeline to the Europoort site for raw material supply. About 140 employees work on-site, primarily in production and laboratories, as the factory operates 24/7. LyondellBasell is the third-largest independent chemical company globally, with annual revenues around $45.6 billion and over 13,100 employees worldwide.
At the Maasvlakte site various operations are improved and digitised. For example the NoR, SSSCL, Operational arrangements, or terminal specific documents. Sea vessels can now digitally announce themselves, through the UAB-Online platform, to streamline and standardise their operations. In this case, UAB-Online provides the form with logic and validations on the digital platform so that LydondellBassell can fill out the document faster, more efficiently and without errors. As a result, LydondellBassell can run digitally through all their checks together with the person responsible on board of the vessel and enter all the checks and rechecks.
Using UAB-Online’s digital NoR, key stakeholders like terminals, traders, vessels, shipping companies, and agents gain direct benefits. The terminals experience improved communication of documents with the digital NoR, immediate availability of the arrival timestamp for planning purposes, and gain a uniform recording of timestamps that can lead to demurrage claims. Traders gain insight and overview into the arrival of vessels at terminals and can use the uniform recording of timestamps in resolving demurrage claims.
